Financial independence (FI) is a term for creating enough passive investment income to pay your bills.  Creating your first $100 per month of passive income is a huge first step.   Once you achieve this you are hungry for more, but investors can get bogged down in the grind of the slow build, losing sight of what they are shooting for.  Whether you are within striking distance of the summit of FI, or it seems so far off it is a distant speck; making a plan can keep you on target, maintain your motivation, and shave years off your journey.  Over the next three months we will be talking about putting together a plan and what it looks like to achieve FI.  We will hear from three Bozeman investors, that have taken three very different paths all with the same destination - FINANCIAL INDEPENDANCE BABY!!! 

Part 2: The Launch.  This month you will hear from an investor that is in the midst of achieving FI this year.

This month Part 1, Putting Together a Plan:  This month you will hear from an investor that has had such success in recent investment moves, that he realized FI was within reach within years (single digits).  He has been crunching numbers and working out the details of what it will look like for him.  He wants to make sure the math works and that he does not reach a false summit only to realize he has further to go.  He will discuss the math behind FI and the nuts and bolts of a plan.  

Open discussion of investment strategies, successes, etc.

Over the past few years, HSVP has carved out a unique niche in the local funding market by helping local investors to efficiently find and invest in a variety of business opportunities. Most of these investments have been structured to create ongoing investor cash flow, rather than to rely on the typical strategy of waiting for a buyout to occur to achieve liquidity and returns. As a byproduct, their approach tends to create community-friendly outcomes — kind of like the long-ago time when community banks were more active in funding business opportunities in our community.

We will meet at Story Mill Park.  We will be checking temperatures and providing hand sanitizer.  We will be outside social distance as best you can.  General discussion.  My hope is that some investors will share a deal they have done and we can talk about it.  

Every meeting as of late has started with a local market recap that has yielded great insights.  After this the group will share ideas about opportunities and challenges for taking advantage of the current turmoil.  The meeting will be outside and we will socially distance, so face-masks are not required, but are encouraged.  I will be taking temperatures of attendees.  There will be no online option for this meeting.
